9. Formal Translation Everyone who pushes ahead and fails to abide in the teaching of Christ {Christos, Authoritative Teacher} lacks God {Theos, Withheld Fellowship}. The one who abides in the teaching has both the Father {Pater, Covenant Father} and the Son {Huios, Revealed Son}. |

Dynamic Translation Anyone who forges ahead and does not remain within the teaching of Christ {Christos, Guiding Teacher} has no relationship with God {Theos, Broken Fellowship}; but whoever remains within that teaching possesses both the Father {Pater, Present Father} and the Son {Huios, Life-Giving Son}. |
