16. Formal Translation And he spoke to him, “Thus says the LORD {Yahweh, Supreme Judge}: Because you sent messengers to inquire of Baal-Zebub, the god of Ekron, is it because there is no God in Israel to inquire of His word? Therefore, you shall not come down from the bed upon which you went up, for surely you shall die.” |
16. Dynamic Translation He said to him, “This is what the LORD {Yahweh, Sovereign Ruler} says: Since you sent messengers to ask Baal-Zebub, the god of Ekron, instead of consulting God in Israel, you will not leave the bed you are lying on. You will certainly die.” |
