2 Kings 4:38:2שָׁ֤בshavreturned 2 Kings 4:38:3הַגִּלְגָּ֙לָה֙hagilgalato Gilgal 2 Kings 4:38:4וְהָרָעָ֣בveharaavand the famine 2 Kings 4:38:5בָּאָ֔רֶץbaaretswas in the land 2 Kings 4:38:6וּבְנֵי֙uveneand sons of 2 Kings 4:38:7הַנְּבִיאִ֔יםhanneviimthe prophets 2 Kings 4:38:8יֹשְׁבִ֖יםyoshevimsitting 2 Kings 4:38:9לְפָנָ֑יוlefanavbefore him 2 Kings 4:38:10וַיֹּ֣אמֶרvayomerand he said 2 Kings 4:38:11לְנַעֲר֗וֹlenaaroto his young man or servant 2 Kings 4:38:12שְׁפֹת֙shefotset on or put on 2 Kings 4:38:13הַסִּ֣ירhasirthe pot 2 Kings 4:38:14הַגְּדוֹלָ֔הhagedolathe large or great 2 Kings 4:38:15וּבַשֵּׁ֥לuvasheland boil or cook 2 Kings 4:38:16נָזִ֖ידnazidstew or broth 2 Kings 4:38:17לִבְנֵ֥יlivnefor the sons of 2 Kings 4:38:18הַנְּבִיאִֽים׃hanneviimthe prophets
38. Formal Translation
And Elisha returned to Gilgal, and there was a famine in the land. The sons of the prophets were sitting before him, and he said to his servant, “Set on the large pot and boil stew for the sons of the prophets.”
38. Dynamic Translation
Elisha went back to Gilgal during a time of hunger in the land. The sons of the prophets were gathered before him, and he told his servant, “Put the big pot on the fire and cook a stew for the prophets.”
