Source Text: Hebrew (WLC) 2 Samuel 14:7:1 ⧉וְהִנֵּה֩vehinneand look, 2 Samuel 14:7:2 ⧉קָ֨מָהkamahas risen 2 Samuel 14:7:3 ⧉כָֽל־הַמִּשְׁפָּחָ֜הkholhamishpakhaall the family-clan 2 Samuel 14:7:4 ⧉עַל־שִׁפְחָתֶ֗ךָalshifkhatekhaagainst your female-servant 2 Samuel 14:7:5 ⧉וַיֹּֽאמְרוּ֙vayomeruand they said 2 Samuel 14:7:6 ⧉תְּנִ֣יtenigive 2 Samuel 14:7:7 ⧉אֶת־מַכֵּ֣הetmake{the} striker of 2 Samuel 14:7:8 ⧉אָחִ֗יוakhivhis brother 2 Samuel 14:7:9 ⧉וּנְמִיתֵ֙הוּ֙unemitehuand we will put him to death 2 Samuel 14:7:10 ⧉בְּנֶ֤פֶשׁbenefeshfor the life of 2 Samuel 14:7:11 ⧉אָחִיו֙akhivhis brother 2 Samuel 14:7:12 ⧉אֲשֶׁ֣רasherwhom 2 Samuel 14:7:13 ⧉הָרָ֔גharaghe killed 2 Samuel 14:7:14 ⧉וְנַשְׁמִ֖ידָהvenashmidaand we will destroy 2 Samuel 14:7:15 ⧉גַּ֣םgamalso 2 Samuel 14:7:16 ⧉אֶת־הַיּוֹרֵ֑שׁethayoresh{the} heir 2 Samuel 14:7:17 ⧉וְכִבּ֗וּvekhibuand they will extinguish 2 Samuel 14:7:18 ⧉אֶת־גַּֽחַלְתִּי֙etgakhalti{the} coal of mine 2 Samuel 14:7:19 ⧉אֲשֶׁ֣רasherthat 2 Samuel 14:7:20 ⧉נִשְׁאָ֔רָהnisharahas been left 2 Samuel 14:7:21 ⧉לְבִלְתִּ֧יleviltiso as not to 2 Samuel 14:7:22 ⧉שום־שִׂים־לְאִישִׁ֛יsumsimleishito set for my man 2 Samuel 14:7:23 ⧉שֵׁ֥םshema name 2 Samuel 14:7:24 ⧉וּשְׁאֵרִ֖יתusheeritand a remnant 2 Samuel 14:7:25 ⧉עַל־פְּנֵ֥יalpeneupon the face of 2 Samuel 14:7:26 ⧉הָאֲדָמָֽה׃פhaadamathe ground |

Formal Translation And behold, the whole clan has risen up against your maidservant, and they say, “Give up the one who struck his brother so that we may put him to death for the life of his brother whom he killed.” And they add, “Let us destroy the heir as well.” In this way, they would quench my only ember which remains, so as to leave my husband neither name nor remnant on the face of the earth. |

Dynamic Translation Look, the entire family has turned against your servant, and they demand, “Hand over the man who struck down his brother so that we can execute him for killing him.” Then they say, “Let us get rid of the heir too.” They would put out my last coal, leaving my husband with no name or legacy on the earth. |
