2 Samuel 15:34:1וְאִם־הָעִ֣ירveimhairand if the city
2 Samuel 15:34:2תָּשׁ֗וּבtashuvyou return 2 Samuel 15:34:3וְאָמַרְתָּ֤veamartaand you say 2 Samuel 15:34:4לְאַבְשָׁלוֹם֙leavshalomto Absalom 2 Samuel 15:34:5עַבְדְּךָ֨avdekhayour servant 2 Samuel 15:34:6אֲנִ֤יaniI am 2 Samuel 15:34:7הַמֶּ֙לֶךְ֙hamelekhthe king 2 Samuel 15:34:8אֶֽהְיֶ֔הeheyeI will be 2 Samuel 15:34:9עֶ֣בֶדeveda servant 2 Samuel 15:34:10אָבִ֤יךָavikhaof your father 2 Samuel 15:34:11וַֽאֲנִי֙vaaniand I 2 Samuel 15:34:12מֵאָ֔זmeazfrom then or from of old 2 Samuel 15:34:13וְעַתָּ֖הveataand now 2 Samuel 15:34:14וַאֲנִ֣יvaaniand I 2 Samuel 15:34:15עַבְדֶּ֑ךָavdekhayour servant 2 Samuel 15:34:16וְהֵפַרְתָּ֣הvehefartathen you will thwart 2 Samuel 15:34:17לִ֔יlifor me 2 Samuel 15:34:18אֵ֖תet 2 Samuel 15:34:19עֲצַ֥תatsatthe counsel of 2 Samuel 15:34:20אֲחִיתֹֽפֶל׃akhitofelAhithophel
34. Formal Translation
But if you return to the city and say to Absalom, “I am your servant, O king; I was your father’s servant from then until now, and now I am your servant,” then you will frustrate for me the counsel of Ahithophel.
34. Dynamic Translation
If you go back to the city and tell Absalom, “Your Majesty, I am your servant. In the past I served your father, but now I will serve you,” then you can help me by making Ahithophel’s advice fail.
