| 8. Formal Translation The LORD {Yahweh, Judge of Deeds} has repaid you for all the bloodshed of the house of Saul, in whose place you reigned, and has given the kingdom into the hand of your son Absalom. And now you stand in your calamity, because you are a bloodstained man. |
| 8. Dynamic Translation The LORD {Yahweh, Retribution Giver} is paying you back for all the blood of Saul’s house, which you replaced as king, and has handed your kingdom over to your son Absalom. Now you are caught in your trouble, because you are a man who has shed blood. |
