| 33. Formal Translation And the king was shaken and went up to the upper room over the gate and wept; and as he was going, he said, “My son Absalom, my son, my son Absalom! If only I had died instead of you—Absalom, my son, my son!” |
| 33. Dynamic Translation The king was deeply shaken. He went upstairs to the upper room above the city gate and broke down in tears. As he walked, he kept saying, “My son Absalom! My son, my son Absalom! If only I could have died in your place—Absalom, my son, my son!” |
