35. Formal Translation
I am a son of eighty years this day; can I discern between what is pleasing and what is not? Can your servant taste what I eat or what I drink? Can I still hear the voice of male and female singers? And why should your servant remain a burden to my lord the king?
35. Dynamic Translation
Today I am eighty years old. Can I really tell what is enjoyable and what is not? Can your servant even taste what he eats or drinks? Can I still hear the singing of men and women? Why then should your servant become any more of a burden to you, my lord the king?
