Exegesis

The clause vayyitqa bashofar {וַיִּתְקַע בַּשּׁוֹפָ֔ר | va-yit-qa ba-sho-FAR} ‘he blew the ram’s horn’ serves as a military signal, followed by vayyaputsū me’al ha’ir ish le’ohalav {וַיָּפֻצוּ מֵֽעַל־הָעִ֖יר אִ֣ישׁ לְאֹהָלָ֑יו | va-ya-pu-TSU me-ʿāl hā-ʿîr ʾīš le-ʾō-hā-LAV}, a niphal imperfect indicating reflexive dispersal.
