39. Formal Translation
When day came, they did not recognize the land, but they noticed a bay with a shore, and they planned, if they might be able, to run the ship aground there.
39. Dynamic Translation
At daylight they could not identify the coastline, but they saw a cove with a beach and decided to attempt, if possible, to drive the ship onto it.
