They were already seasoned rulers with long experience.

They were chosen mainly because of their family rank.

They were physically sound and attractive in appearance.

Already fluent in the Chaldeans' language

They were fit to serve in the king's court.

They had no further need for instruction.

Focus on looking acceptable and assume that is enough.

Refuse outside learning to protect what you already know.

Wait for an easier setting before you try to serve.

Pursue wisdom, stay teachable, and prepare to serve faithfully.

If you would like to receive Jesus, pray this with me: Lord Jesus, I confess that I have sinned and cannot make myself clean. I turn from my sin and trust that you died for me and rose again. Forgive me, be my Lord, and teach me to walk with you. Shape me for your purpose and lead my life. Amen.

Make Me Yours

Father, revive your Church. Give us clean hearts, sound judgment, teachable minds, and strength to stand where you place us. Free us from living for appearance, and make us eager to learn what we need for faithful service. Wake us up again for your purposes, in the name of Jesus. Amen.

Ready to Stand Again

Thank God for the abilities, learning, and opportunities he gives. Ask him for humility to receive those gifts well and wisdom to use them in service rather than pride.

Thank You for Gifts to Steward

Start by naming one area where you need wiser judgment or more training. Then ask God to make you willing to learn, patient under instruction, and ready for the place he has prepared for you.

Pray for a Teachable Spirit

Pray for students, apprentices, and young believers who are being shaped for service. Ask God to give them integrity, clear thinking, and courage to stand faithfully in demanding places.

For Those Being Prepared

Father, forgive me when I care more about looking ready than becoming ready. Make me humble to learn, steady to stand, and willing to receive correction. Give me wisdom for the work you place before me, and shape me for faithful service, in the name of Jesus. Amen.
