Let the court meal and drink make him ritually unclean

Use food and wine to show loyalty to the king

Wait for a miracle before making any decision

The senior palace official over the eunuchs

Decide ahead of time not to compromise, then ask respectfully for a different way

Go along quietly so the situation does not become awkward

Reject the request in a way that makes your stand the main point

Put it off until later and hope the pressure disappears

Lord, revive your church where compromise has become normal. Give us Daniel's resolve, purity of heart, and courage to honor you under pressure. Teach us to choose faithfulness over ease, and let our lives show quiet conviction before the watching world, in the name of Jesus. Amen.

Pray for students, workers, and leaders who are asked to bend their convictions; for wise counsel; and for open doors when they seek a respectful alternative.

Thank God that he strengthens inward decisions before pressure arrives. Thank him for hearing a respectful request, and for giving a way to remain faithful without harshness.
