Come to the Lord Who Bears Grief

Lord, awaken your Church from shallow words and hurried hearts. Teach us to mourn what grieves you, to stay with you in prayer, and to carry burdens before you with honesty and perseverance. Let our sorrow become intercession, and renew us with a deeper hunger for your face, in the name of Jesus. Amen.

Revive Your People in Honest Lament

Father, when grief lasts longer than I expected, give me the grace to bring it to you again and again. Help me not to hide it, rush it, or pretend it is gone. Hold me in your mercy and steady me day by day, in the name of Jesus. Amen.

Grace for a Long Season of Grief

Begin by naming one burden before God. Ask him for honest words, set aside a short time each day this week, and return to the same concern without shame until your heart can rest in him.

Pray Through a Burden for Several Days

Bring these themes to God: the tendency to hide pain; the habit of rushing past grief; the grace to stay before God until prayer becomes honest again.

Learning to Lament Honestly

Lord, remember those who are carrying sorrow for a long time. Give them comfort, patient companions, and the strength to keep bringing their pain to you. Let your presence meet them in the middle of their mourning, in the name of Jesus. Amen.
