The coordinated negations wə-lō lə’acharito {וְלֹא לְאַחֲרִיתוֹ | wə-lōʾ lə-ʾa-ḥa-ri-tō} ‘and not to his posterity’ and wə-lō kemashlo ăšer māšāl {וְלֹא כְמָשְׁלוֹ אֲשֶׁר מָשָׁל | wə-lōʾ kə-māš-lō ă-šer mā-šāl} ‘and not by his ruling authority’ clarify the succession will bypass his heirs and his governing style.
