It is tied to the legal code of the Medes and Persians.

It concerns a ruling the king has established himself.

It says the king can revoke it whenever he wants.

Treat important words and commitments as serious, because they are not meant to be casually undone.

Change what you have said whenever keeping it becomes inconvenient.

Leave key decisions vague so nothing can ever be held against you.

Assume every rule is only a suggestion until it helps you.

If you would like to receive Jesus, pray this with me: Lord Jesus, I come to you needing mercy and truth that cannot be overturned. I confess that I have sinned, spoken carelessly, and lived apart from your will. I turn from my sin and ask you to forgive me. I believe you died for my sins and rose again. Receive the Lord Who Never Changes

Lord, revive your Church. Where we have used authority carelessly or treated promises lightly, wake us up. Make us humble, honest, and steady under your unchanging word, and help us reflect your justice in a world that bends truth for convenience, in the name of Jesus. Amen.

Revive Your People to Honor Your Word

Pray by naming one promise, decision, or responsibility that matters right now. Ask God to show you whether you need to keep it with greater care or to speak more wisely before making it binding.

Pray Before You Speak

Pray for kings, officials, judges, and all who carry authority: that they would act fairly, speak plainly, and use rules to protect people rather than pressure them. Ask God to give them humility before the limits of their power.

For Those Who Lead

Bring to God any time you have used words, rules, or formal agreements to manipulate others. Confess where you have been casual with your promises, evasive with the truth, or eager to control outcomes.

Repent of Careless Promises

Father, thank you that your wisdom is steady when human decisions feel fixed or uncertain. Teach me to honor what is right, keep my word, and rest in your faithful care, in the name of Jesus. Amen.
