16. Formal Translation And the rest of the Jews who were in the king’s provinces assembled and stood for their lives; they gained rest from their enemies and slew seventy-five thousand of their haters, but they did not lay their hands on the plunder. |
16. Dynamic Translation Meanwhile, the other Jews in the king’s provinces gathered to defend themselves and found relief from their enemies, slaying seventy-five thousand of those who hated them. Yet they did not lay hands on the loot. |
