The sequential imperfects vayetse’u {וַיֵּצְא֖וּ | va-yē-ṣə-ʼû} ‘and they went out’ and vayelekhu {וַיֵּלְכ֧וּ | va-yē-lə-ḵû} ‘and they walked’ depict continuous movement toward el-midbar-shur {אֶל־מִדְבַּר־שׁ֑וּר | ʾel mid-bār-šūr} ‘wilderness of Shur.’
