Exegesis
The verse opens with a conditional protasis introduced by im {אִם | ʾim} ‘if’ followed by an infinitive absolute–imperfect pair sha-mo-a tish-ma {שָׁמ֨וֹעַ תִּשְׁמַ֜ע | šā-môʾaʿ tiš-māʿ} ‘listening attentively…you will listen’, which intensifies the demand for obedience.
