Ezekiel 20:18:1וָאֹמַ֤רvaomarand I said
Ezekiel 20:18:2אֶל־בְּנֵיהֶם֙elbenehemto their children Ezekiel 20:18:3בַּמִּדְבָּ֔רbamidbarin the wilderness Ezekiel 20:18:4בְּחֻקּ֤וֹתֵיbekhukotein the statutes of Ezekiel 20:18:5אֲבֽוֹתֵיכֶם֙avotekhemyour fathers Ezekiel 20:18:6אַל־תֵּלֵ֔כוּaltelekhudo not walk Ezekiel 20:18:7וְאֶת־מִשְׁפְּטֵיהֶ֖םveetmishpetehemand their judgments Ezekiel 20:18:8אַל־תִּשְׁמֹ֑רוּaltishmorudo not keep Ezekiel 20:18:9וּבְגִלּוּלֵיהֶ֖םuvegillulehemand with their idols Ezekiel 20:18:10אַל־תִּטַּמָּֽאוּ׃altittammaudo not defile yourselves
18. Formal Translation
And I {Yahweh, Sovereign Legislator} said to their children in the wilderness, “Do not walk in the statutes of your fathers, and do not keep their ordinances, and do not defile yourselves with their idols.”
18. Dynamic Translation
Then I {Yahweh, Supreme Guide} told their children while they were in the wilderness, “Do not follow the customs of your fathers, do not observe their rules, and do not make yourselves unclean with their idols.”
