Formal Translation And you shall say to them, “Thus says the Lord GOD {Adonai Yahweh, Sovereign Revealer}: On the day I chose Israel and lifted up my hand to the seed of the house of Jacob and made Myself known to them in the land of Egypt, I lifted up my hand to them, saying, ‘I am the LORD your God.’” |
| 5. Dynamic Translation Tell them, “This is what the Lord GOD {Adonai Yahweh, Supreme Guide} says: On the day I picked Israel and solemnly promised to support the descendants of Jacob’s family, I revealed Myself to them in the land of Egypt and said, ‘I am the LORD your God.’” |
