Source Text: Hebrew (WLC) Ezra 10:3:1 ⧉וְעַתָּ֣הveataand now Ezra 10:3:2 ⧉נִֽכְרָת־בְּרִ֣יתnikratberitlet us cut a covenant Ezra 10:3:3 ⧉לֵ֠אלֹהֵינוּlelohenuwith our God Ezra 10:3:4 ⧉לְהוֹצִ֨יאlehotsito bring out or to send away Ezra 10:3:5 ⧉כָל־נָשִׁ֜יםkholnashimall wives or women Ezra 10:3:6 ⧉וְהַנּוֹלָ֤דvehanoladand the one born Ezra 10:3:7 ⧉מֵהֶם֙mehemfrom them Ezra 10:3:8 ⧉בַּעֲצַ֣תbaatsatby the counsel of Ezra 10:3:9 ⧉אֲדֹנָ֔יadonaimy lord Ezra 10:3:10 ⧉וְהַחֲרֵדִ֖יםvehakharedimand the ones trembling Ezra 10:3:11 ⧉בְּמִצְוַ֣תbemitsvatat the commandment of Ezra 10:3:12 ⧉אֱלֹהֵ֑ינוּelohenuour God Ezra 10:3:13 ⧉וְכַתּוֹרָ֖הvekhatoraand according to the law Ezra 10:3:14 ⧉יֵעָשֶֽׂה׃yeaselet it be done |
3. Formal Translation And now let us make a covenant to our God {Eloheinu, Covenant Restorer} to send away all the women and those born from them according to the counsel of my lord and of those who tremble at the commandment of our God. And let it be done according to the law. |
3. Dynamic Translation So let us now make an agreement before our God {Eloheinu, Promise Keeper} to send away these wives and the children born from them, following the counsel of my master and of those who revere the commandment of our God. Let it be carried out in line with the law. |
