12. Formal Translation Because our fathers angered the God of heaven {Elah Shemaya, Supreme Ruler}, He gave them into the hand of Nebuchadnezzar, king of Babylon, the Chaldean, who destroyed this house and exiled the people to Babylon. |
12. Dynamic Translation Since our ancestors provoked the God of heaven {Elah Shemaya, Divine Judge}, He handed them over to Nebuchadnezzar, the Babylonian king, who destroyed this temple and carried the people away to Babylon. |
