The LORD God causes the man to fall into a profound sleep

God tells the man to wake up and examine the wound

Handle the person gently and deliberately, with as little harm as possible

Move quickly and forcefully, because speed matters more than care

Ignore limits and discomfort if the final result seems helpful

Step away completely, since involvement always feels too risky

וַיַּפֵּל֩{va-yap-PEL###vah-yahp-PEHL###(And He) caused to fall} יְהוָ֨ה{Ye-ho-VAH###Yeh-ho-VAA###LORD} אֱלֹהִ֧ים{e-lo-HIM###eh-loh-HEEM###God} תַּרְדֵּמָ֛ה{tar-de-MA###tahr-deh-MAA###a deep sleep} עַל־הָאָדָ֖ם{al-ha-a-DAM###ahl-hah-ah-DAAM###upon the man} וַיִּישָׁ֑ן{va-yi-SHAN###vah-yee-SHAAN###(And) he slept} וַיִּקַּ֗ח{va-yik-KAKH###vah-yik-KAHKH###(And) he took} אַחַת֙{a-KHAT###ah-KHAHT###one} מִצַּלְעֹתָ֔יו{mi-tsal-o-THAV###mih-tsahl-oh-THAAV###from his ribs} וַיִּסְגֹּ֥ר{va-yis-GOR###vah-yihs-GOHR###(And) he closed} בָּשָׂ֖ר{ba-SAR###bah-SAAR###with flesh} תַּחְתֶּֽנָּה׃{takh-TEN-na###tahkh-TEHN-nah###in its place}
