Exegesis

The clause haarets asher attah shochev aleha {הָאָרֶץ אֲשֶׁר אַתָּה שֹׁכֵב עָלֶיהָ} places ‘the land’ at the head, with the relative asher specifying Jacob’s exact location and grounding the promise. The fronting of lekha ‘to you’ before etnenah ‘I will give it’ uses the energic nun to stress certainty, and the coordinate ulzar’ekha extends the promise to Jacob’s offspring.
