7. Formal Translation
When they heard, Jacob’s sons came in from the field; the men were grieved, and it burned very greatly to them, because he had committed a disgrace in Israel by lying with the daughter of Jacob, and such a thing is not to be done.
7. Dynamic Translation
As soon as Jacob’s sons learned what happened, they returned from the field. They were heartsick and furious, because an outrageous act had been done in Israel by sleeping with Jacob’s daughter—something that must not be done.
