Isaiah 3:21ExegesisTAB

Isaiah 3 : 21 Adornment | Jewelry | Ornamentation
21. Linguistic Exegesis
The verse presents a coordinated list beginning with hattabba'ot {הַטַּבָּע֖וֹת | ha-ṭṭā-ḇā-ʿôṯ} ‘the rings,’ linked by the conjunction in venizmei {וְנִזְמֵ֥י | wə-nî-z-mê} ‘nose rings’ in construct state, and concluded by haaf {הָאָֽף | hā-ʾāp} ‘the nose’ to specify placement. The prefixed vav functions as an additive coordinator, and the construct relationship binds rings to nose. Definite articles mark specificity. English renders the additive vav as “and” and reflects the Hebrew construct through compounding, preserving the original’s sequential listing of adornments.
