Isaiah 34TAB

Come near, nations {goyim: political entities}, and hear; give heed, peoples; let the earth hear and its fullness; the world and all its offspring {tse’etza’eha: descendants}.

For the indignation of the LORD {YHWH, Righteous Judge} is upon all the nations, and His fury is upon all their armies; He has devoted them to destruction {hecherimam: devoted for ruin} and delivered them to the slaughter.

And their slain {challeihem: fallen warriors} will be thrown out, and the stench of their corpses will rise; and the mountains will melt with their blood {damam: spilled lifeblood}.

And all the host {kol-tzeva: celestial army} of the heavens will rot away, and the heavens will be rolled up like a scroll; and all their host will fall, as a leaf {aleh: fading foliage} falls from the vine, and as a fig falls from the fig tree.

For My {YHWH, Sovereign Judge} sword has drunk its fill in the heavens; behold, it will descend upon Edom and upon the people of My ban {cherem: devoted to destruction}, for judgment.

The sword of the LORD {YHWH, Divine Avenger} is filled with blood {dam: life force}; it is made fat with fat from the blood of lambs and goats and from the fat of the kidneys of rams. For the LORD has a sacrifice in Bozrah and a great slaughter in the land of Edom.

And wild oxen will come down with them, and bullocks with mighty ones {abirim: powerful bulls}; and their land will be soaked {rivta: thoroughly drenched} with blood, and their dust will be made fat from fatness.

For this is the day of vengeance for the LORD {YHWH, Righteous Avenger}, a year of recompenses {shillumim: just repayment} for the dispute of Zion.

Its streams will be changed into pitch {zefet: combustible tar}, and its dust into brimstone {gofrit: sulfur fire}, and its land will become burning pitch.

Night and day it shall not be quenched {tikhbeh: never extinguished}; its smoke shall rise forever. From generation {midor: unending succession} to generation it shall lie waste; there will be none to pass through it, for endless ages.

But the cormorant and the porcupine {qipod: spiny creature} shall possess it, the owl and the raven will dwell in it; and He {YHWH, Divine Judge} will stretch out over it a measuring line of chaos and stones of emptiness.

Its nobles {choreha: power holders}—there is no kingdom there to call it; and all her princes will become nothing {afes: utter ruin}.

And thorns will grow up in her palaces {armenoteha: fortified dwellings}, nettles and brambles in her fortresses, and it will become a habitation for jackals {tannim: desert predators} and a courtyard for ostriches.

And wild creatures {tziyyim: desert dwellers} will meet island creatures, and the satyr {sa‘ir: goat-demon} will call to his companion; surely there Lilith will settle, and she will find for herself a resting place.

There the kippoz {kippoz: leaping bird} will make her nest, lay eggs, hatch them, and brood in her shadow. Surely, there the kites {dayyot: birds of prey} are gathered, each with her mate.

Seek from the scroll of the LORD {YHWH, Faithful Witness}, and read: not one of these will be missing, none will lack her companion {re’utah: close companion}; for His mouth has commanded, and His Spirit has gathered them.

And He {YHWH, Sovereign Disposer} cast the lot for them, and His hand divided it for them by the measuring line; they shall possess it forever {ad-olam: unending duration}, to generation and generation they shall dwell in it.
