The wilderness {midbar: untamed expanse} and the dry land will rejoice, and the steppe will be glad and blossom like the lily {chavatzelet: desert blossom}.
It will blossom; it will surely blossom and rejoice, indeed with exultation and a shout of joy. The glory of the Lebanon will be given to it, the majesty of Carmel and Sharon. They will see the glory of the LORD {YHWH, Majestic Revealer} and the majesty of our God {Eloheinu, Divine Splendor}.
Strengthen the feeble {rafot: lacking strength} hands and make firm the unsteady knees {birkayim: shaking supports}.
Say to the anxious of heart, “Be strong; do not fear. Behold, your God {Eloheikhem, Deliverer} will come with vengeance; recompense from God {Elohim, Righteous Judge} will come. He will come and save you.”
Then the eyes {einai: visual organs} of the blind will be opened, and the ears {weoznei: listening faculty} of the deaf will be opened.
Then the lame {pisseach: physically disabled} will leap like a deer, and the tongue {leshon: organ of speech} of the mute will sing for joy, for waters will burst forth in the wilderness and streams in the desert plain.
And the parched ground will become a pool, and the thirsty land will become springs of water; in the habitation of jackals {tannim: wild desert creatures}, where they rest, there will be grass with reed and rush {gome: marsh plant}.
And there shall be a highway and a way, and it shall be called the Way of Holiness; the unclean {tame: ritually impure} shall not pass over it; it shall be for them—one who walks the way—even fools {evilim: lacking sound judgment} shall not go astray.
There will be no lion {aryeh: fierce predator} there, nor will a violent beast ascend upon it. They will not be found there, but the redeemed {geulim: ransomed people} shall walk there.
And the ransomed of the LORD {YHWH, Liberator} will return and come to Zion with singing {berinah: celebratory song}, and everlasting joy will be upon their heads. Gladness and joy they will obtain, and sorrow and sighing will flee away.
