A comparative simile occurs in kaelah {כָּאֵלָ֣ה | kā-ʾē-lāh} ‘like the terebinth’ and vekaallon {וְכָאַלּ֗וֹן | wə-kā-ʾal-lōn} ‘and like the oak’, with the relative pronoun asher {אֲשֶׁ֤ר | ʾă-šer} ‘which’ introducing beshalkheṯ matsevet bam {בְּשַׁלֶּ֙כֶת֙ מַצֶּ֣בֶת בָּ֔ם | bə-šal-le-ḵet maṭ-se-ḇet bām} ‘in felling have stumps in them’.

In contextIsaiah 6:13

Even if a tenth remains in it, it will again return and be consumed; like the terebinth and the oak, whose stumps remain after they are felled, so the holy seed will be its stump.
