12. Formal Translation But before all things, my brothers, do not swear—neither by heaven nor by the earth nor by any other oath; but let your “Yes” be yes and your “No” be no, so that you may not fall under condemnation. |
12. Dynamic Translation Above all, my brothers and sisters, do not take an oath—whether by heaven, by the earth, or by anything else. Let your yes be yes, and your no be no, so you will not fall under judgment. |
