Source Text: Hebrew (WLC) Jeremiah 2:27:1 ⧉אֹמְרִ֨יםomerimsaying Jeremiah 2:27:2 ⧉לָעֵ֜ץlaetsto a tree Jeremiah 2:27:3 ⧉אָ֣בִיavimy father Jeremiah 2:27:4 ⧉אַ֗תָּהatayou Jeremiah 2:27:5 ⧉וְלָאֶ֙בֶן֙velaevenand to a stone Jeremiah 2:27:6 ⧉אַ֣תְּatyou Jeremiah 2:27:7 ⧉ילדתניyaladtaniyou bore me Jeremiah 2:27:8 ⧉יְלִדְתָּ֔נוּyelidtanuyou bore us Jeremiah 2:27:9 ⧉כִּֽי־פָנ֥וּkifanufor they have turned Jeremiah 2:27:10 ⧉אֵלַ֛יelaito me Jeremiah 2:27:11 ⧉עֹ֖רֶףorefa back of the neck Jeremiah 2:27:12 ⧉וְלֹ֣אveloand not Jeremiah 2:27:13 ⧉פָנִ֑יםfanimface Jeremiah 2:27:14 ⧉וּבְעֵ֤תuveetand in a time of Jeremiah 2:27:15 ⧉רָֽעָתָם֙raatamtheir calamity Jeremiah 2:27:16 ⧉יֹֽאמְר֔וּyomeruthey will say Jeremiah 2:27:17 ⧉ק֖וּמָהkumaarise Jeremiah 2:27:18 ⧉וְהוֹשִׁיעֵֽנוּ׃vehoshienuand save us |
27. Formal Translation They say to the tree, “You are my father,” and to the stone, “You gave birth to us.” For they have turned their back to Me {Yahweh, Faithful Redeemer} and not their face. Yet in the time of their trouble, they will say, “Arise and save us!” |
27. Dynamic Translation They declare to a tree, “You are my father,” and to a stone, “You brought us into being.” But they have turned their backs to Me {Yahweh, Ever-Present Helper}, not their faces. Still, when trouble comes, they cry out, “Rise up and rescue us!” |
