Job 2:12:1וַיִּשְׂא֨וּvayiseuand they lifted up
Job 2:12:2אֶת־עֵינֵיהֶ֤םetenehemthe eyes of them Job 2:12:3מֵרָחוֹק֙merakhokfrom a distance Job 2:12:4וְלֹ֣אveloand not Job 2:12:5הִכִּירֻ֔הוּhikiruhuthey recognized him Job 2:12:6וַיִּשְׂא֥וּvayiseuand they lifted up Job 2:12:7קוֹלָ֖םkolamtheir voice Job 2:12:8וַיִּבְכּ֑וּvayivkuand they wept Job 2:12:9וַֽיִּקְרְעוּ֙vayikreuand they tore Job 2:12:10אִ֣ישׁisheach man Job 2:12:11מְעִל֔וֹmeilohis robe Job 2:12:12וַיִּזְרְק֥וּvayizrekuand they threw Job 2:12:13עָפָ֛רafardust Job 2:12:14עַל־רָאשֵׁיהֶ֖םalrashehemupon their heads Job 2:12:15הַשָּׁמָֽיְמָה׃hashamaimatoward heaven
12. Formal Translation
And when they lifted their eyes from a distance and did not recognize him, they raised their voices and wept, and each man tore his robe and threw dust toward the heavens upon their heads.
12. Dynamic Translation
Looking up from far away, they could not recognize him. They cried out and wept, tearing their robes as they tossed dust skyward so that it fell upon their heads.
