The One who made the world was present in it, but the world failed to recognize him.

The world recognized its Maker as soon as he arrived.

The world existed apart from him, and he later entered it.

He was made by the world and then lived among people.

Look for his presence in ordinary places and respond with reverence

Treat ordinary life as spiritually empty unless something dramatic happens

Assume God is only found when other people point him out

Keep faith private and avoid noticing God in daily routines

If you would like to receive Jesus, pray this with me: Lord Jesus, you came into the world you made, and I have not recognized you as I should. I confess that I have sinned and need your mercy. I believe you died for my sins and rose again. I turn from my sin and receive you as my Lord and Savior. Teach me to know you and follow you with my whole life. Amen.

Know the One You Overlooked

Father, revive your Church so we do not overlook your Son in the ordinary world around us. Give us eyes to recognize him, courage to speak of him, and lives that bear witness to his presence. Make us a people who know you and help others know you, in the name of Jesus. Amen.

Wake Your Church to Your Presence

Thank you for being present in the world you made, even when people fail to notice you. Thank you for still making yourself known to those who seek you, and for letting your presence be near in ordinary life.

Thanks for Hidden Nearness

Begin by naming one ordinary place where you usually rush past God. Ask him to open your eyes to his presence there, then ask for one small response of reverence or obedience today.

Pray for Open Eyes

Pray for people who have not yet recognized Jesus: that their hearts would become open, that confusion would give way to faith, and that you would have patience and kindness as you witness to him.

For Those Who Do Not Recognize Him

Father, train my heart to notice you in the world you made. Keep me from hurry, blindness, and indifference. Give me a reverent spirit and a faithful response wherever you place me, in the name of Jesus. Amen.
