You are staying close to Jesus, and his words are staying in you

People around you recognize you as a disciple

Let Jesus' words stay in you, and then bring your requests to him

Ask first, then look for a verse that seems to fit afterward

Keep prayer separate from daily listening to Jesus

Only pray about small things you already know you can handle

If you would like to receive Jesus, pray this with me: Lord Jesus, I admit that I have sinned and tried to live apart from you. I have not remained in you, and I have not let your words remain in me. I believe you died for my sins and rose again. I turn from my sin and ask you to come into my life. Be my Lord and Savior, teach me to abide in you, and let your words live in me. Amen.

Come to Jesus and Abide

Lord, revive your Church to remain in Christ and to treasure his words. Where we have become busy but not abiding, draw us back. Where our prayers have become shallow, deepen them. Shape our desires by your voice, and make us a people who ask with faith and live in obedience, in the name of Jesus. Amen.

Renew Your People in Abiding

Give thanks for Jesus' invitation to pray, for the nearness of his presence, and for the gift of his words shaping our desires.

Thanks for an Open Door to Ask

Read a short passage from Jesus, sit with it for a moment, and turn what you have heard into a request. Ask God to let the words stay with you before you speak.

Pray After Listening

Father, I lift up someone whose desires are confused or restless. Let Jesus' words stay in them, shape what they want, and lead them to ask you for what is good. Draw them close to Christ, in the name of Jesus. Amen.

For Someone Who Needs Direction

Pray for: a heart that remains close to Jesus; a mind that remembers his words; desires that line up with his voice; courage to ask boldly and humbly.
