John 15TAB

I {Iesous, Self-Revealing Son} am the vine, the one that is true, and My Father {Pater, Wise Cultivator} is the cultivator.

Every branch in Me {Iesous, True Vine} that is not bearing fruit, He removes it; and every fruit-bearing branch He cleanses {kathairei: purifies for growth} it so that it may bear more fruit.

You are already pure {katharoi: inwardly pure} on account of the word I {Iesous, Cleansing Teacher} have spoken to you.

Remain in Me {Iesous, Life-Giving Vine}, and I remain within you. Just as a branch {klema: living shoot} cannot bear fruit on its own unless it stays in the vine, so neither can you unless you remain in Me.

I {Iesous, Life-Giving Vine} am the vine; you are the branches. Whoever stays in Me and I in him, that one brings forth plentiful fruit {karpos: fruitful result}, because separated from Me you are not able to do anything.

If anyone does not remain in Me {Iesous, True Vine}, he is thrown outside like the branch {klema: vine-shoot}, and it withers; they gather them and throw them into the fire, and they are burned.

If you remain in Me {Iesous, Indwelling Lord}, and My words {rhemata: spoken teachings} remain in you, ask whatever you desire, and it will come to pass for you.

By this My Father {Pater, Source Of Glory} is glorified, that you bear abundant fruit and become My disciples {mathetai: committed learners}.

Just as the Father {pater, Fountain Of Love} has loved Me {Iesous, Beloved Son}, I also have loved you; remain in My love.

If you keep My commandments {entolai: covenant directives}, you will continue in My love, just as I have kept My Father's {patros: Command-Giving Father} commandments and continue in His love.

I {Iesous, Joy-Source Lord} have spoken these things to you so that My joy {chara: abiding delight} may be within you, and your joy may be brought to fullness.

This commandment {entole: binding charge} is Mine {Iesous, Loving Teacher}: that you love one another just as I have loved you.

There is no love {agapen: self-giving devotion} greater than this: that a person should lay down his life {psuchen: whole life} for his friends.

You are My friends {philoi: trusted companions} if you carry out what I {Iesous, Covenant Master} command you.

I {Iesous, Faithful Revealer} am not calling you servants any longer, because a servant does not know what his master is doing; rather, I have called you friends, because everything I heard from My Father {pater, Source of Truth} I have made known to you.

You did not choose Me {Iesous, Sovereign Caller}, but I chose you and appointed you, so that you may go and bear fruit, and that your fruit may remain, so that whatever you ask the Father {Pater, Generous Giver} in My name, He may give to you.

These things I {Iesous, Commanding Teacher} command you, so that you may love {agapate: self-giving devotion} one another.

If the world {kosmos: hostile human order} hates you, recognize that it has already hated Me {Iesous, Primary Target} before you.

If you were from the world, the world would favor its own; but because you are not from the world, instead I {Iesous, Electing Lord} chose you out of the world; for this reason the world hates {misei: ongoing hostility} you.

Keep in mind the word {logos: spoken message} that I {Iesous, Foretold Rejection} spoke to you: “A servant is not greater than his master. If they persecuted Me, they will also persecute you; if they kept My word, they will also keep yours.”

Yet they will do all of this to you on account of My {Iesous, Rejected Lord} name {onoma: representative authority}, since they do not know the One who sent Me.

If I {Iesous, Revealing Sin} had not come and spoken to them, they would not have been accountable for sin; but now they have no pretext {prophasis: false defense} concerning their sin.

The one who bears that hatred toward Me {Iesous, Rejected Son} also bears that hatred toward My Father {Pater, Shared Honor}.

If I had not done in their midst the works no one else did, they would have had no sin; but now they have seen and hated both Me {Iesous, Rejected Son} and My Father {Pater, Hated With Me}.

This occurred so that the passage {logos: written word} in their law would reach completion: “They hated Me {Iesous, Innocent Sufferer} without cause.”

When the Advocate {parakletos: Courtroom Helper} comes—whom I will send to you from the Father {pater, Sending Father}, the Spirit of truth who proceeds from the Father—He will testify concerning Me.

And you also will bear witness, because you have been with Me {Iesous, Companion Lord} from the beginning {arches: first days}.
