Because the authorities had ordered the body moved somewhere else

Because the tomb was far away and no other place was available

Because they were waiting for a later feast to begin

Because the preparation day for the Jews had come and the burial place was nearby

It was the day for preparation among the Jews

They waited until after the Sabbath before acting

Wait until conditions feel perfect before doing anything

Do the needed task promptly and carefully, even if it is ordinary

Choose a more visible task and leave the practical one undone

Spend the time explaining the obstacle instead of acting

If you would like to receive Jesus, pray this with me: Lord Jesus, I admit that I have sinned and that I cannot save myself. I turn from my sin and trust that you died for my sins and rose again. Pray for people who are preparing burials, making hard decisions under pressure, or carrying fresh grief. Ask God to give them wisdom, tenderness, and peaceful hearts, and to meet them with his nearness in the midst of sorrow.
