Listen with humility and keep the door open for honest seeking.

Assume the person's title means they already have the whole truth.

Keep them at arm's length so their questions do not affect you.

Respect them only if they already agree with you.

If you would like to receive Jesus, pray this with me: Lord Jesus, you know me by name, and I come to you as I am. I admit that I have sinned and need your mercy. I believe you died for my sins and rose again. I turn from my sin and open my life to you. Be my Lord and my Savior, and lead me in your truth. Amen.

Lord, revive your Church so that we do not hide behind titles or assume we have arrived. Give us humility to listen, courage to seek truth, and grace to welcome anyone who comes asking. Make us a people known not for status, but for sincere hearts turned toward you, in the name of Jesus. Amen.

Thank God that he sees people as more than labels and roles. Thank him that he knows each person by name and notices those whom others may only describe by title. Ask him to help you see others with the same honesty and care.

Pray by naming one place where pride or assumption keeps you from listening. Ask God to give you humility, a teachable spirit, and one clear next step to respond well to the person in front of you.

Pray for a Teachable Spirit

Pray for leaders, teachers, and respected people around you to have the courage to seek truth honestly. Ask God to meet them in their questions and draw them toward Jesus.

For Leaders Who Still Need Truth

Lord, I lay down my pride about status, knowledge, and being right. Make me humble enough to listen, honest enough to learn, and kind enough to welcome seekers well. Keep my heart open to your truth and to the people you send me, in the name of Jesus. Amen.
