The neighbors and people who had seen the man before

They had seen him earlier when he was a beggar

The man had been sitting and begging before

They were already sure about his identity

The man had been healed before this conversation

Look carefully and ask honest questions before deciding

Assume it is probably a misunderstanding and say nothing

Treat the person's past as the whole story

Wait until everyone else agrees before paying attention

Pray for: a person whose growth others may not yet recognize; courage for them when people question what God has done; and a community that can tell the difference between doubt, mockery, and honest curiosity.

Lord, make me quick to notice your work in others and slow to dismiss what I see. Guard me from careless judgment and from freezing people in their past. Give me a humble, truthful voice that asks honest questions and points back to you, in the name of Jesus. Amen.
