Jonah 1:14:1וַיִּקְרְא֨וּvayikreuand they called out
Jonah 1:14:2אֶל־יְהוָ֜הelyahwehto the LORD Jonah 1:14:3וַיֹּאמְר֗וּvayomeruand they said Jonah 1:14:4אָנָּ֤הanaplease Jonah 1:14:5יְהוָה֙yahwehLORD Jonah 1:14:6אַל־נָ֣אalnaplease do not Jonah 1:14:7נֹאבְדָ֔הnoveddalet us perish Jonah 1:14:8בְּנֶ֖פֶשׁbenefeshfor the life of Jonah 1:14:9הָאִ֣ישׁhaishthe man Jonah 1:14:10הַזֶּ֑הhazethis Jonah 1:14:11וְאַל־תִּתֵּ֥ןvealtitenand do not place Jonah 1:14:12עָלֵ֖ינוּalenuupon us Jonah 1:14:13דָּ֣םdamblood Jonah 1:14:14נָקִ֑יאnakiinnocent Jonah 1:14:15כִּֽי־אַתָּ֣הkiatafor you Jonah 1:14:16יְהוָ֔הyahwehLORD Jonah 1:14:17כַּאֲשֶׁ֥רkaasheras Jonah 1:14:18חָפַ֖צְתָּkhafatstayou desired Jonah 1:14:19עָשִֽׂיתָ׃asitayou have done
14. Formal Translation
And they called out to the LORD {Yahweh, Sea Judge} and said, “Please, O LORD, please do not let us perish because of the life of this man, and do not place upon us innocent blood; for You, O LORD, have done just as You desired.”
14. Dynamic Translation
So they cried to the LORD {Yahweh, One Who Wills} and said, “O LORD, please do not let us die for this man’s sake, and do not charge us with bloodguilt; for You, O LORD, acted as You pleased.”
