Joshua 15:23ExegesisTAB

Joshua 15 : 23 Boundaries | Geography | Settlement
23. Linguistic Exegesis
The verse forms an asyndetic enumeration through repeated use of the conjunction vav {וְ | wə} ‘and’, prefixed to each proper noun: veqedesh {וְקֶ֥דֶשׁ | wə-qə-ḏeš} ‘and Kedesh’, vehatzor {וְחָצ֖וֹר | wə-ḥā-ṣôr} ‘and Hazor’, and veyitnan {וְיִתְנָֽן | wə-yit-nān} ‘and Ithnan’. This pattern, typical in Hebrew boundary lists, creates a flowing sequence. English convention condenses the repeated “and” into commas with a final “and” before the last item, preserving the list’s coherence while reflecting the original asyndeton.
