| 20. Formal Translation Was it not Achan son of Zerah who acted unfaithfully regarding the devoted thing, so that fierce anger fell on the whole assembly of Israel? He was only one man, yet he did not perish alone in his iniquity. |
| 20. Dynamic Translation When Achan son of Zerah broke faith by taking what was devoted for destruction, anger swept over the entire community of Israel. He was only one man, yet he did not die alone for his wrongdoing. |
