Joshua 6:20:1וַיָּ֣רַע הָעָ֔םvayara haamSo the people shouted
Joshua 6:20:2וַֽיִּתְקְע֖וּ בַּשֹּֽׁפָר֑וֹתvayitkeu bashofarotand blew the trumpets Joshua 6:20:3וַיְהִי֩ כִשְׁמֹ֨עַ הָעָ֜ם אֶת־ק֣וֹל הַשּׁוֹפָ֗רvayehi kishmoa haam etkol hashofarAnd it happened when the people heard the sound of the trumpet Joshua 6:20:4וַיָּרִ֤יעוּ הָעָם֙ תְּרוּעָ֣ה גְדוֹלָ֔הvayariu haam teruah gedolahthe people shouted a great shout Joshua 6:20:5וַתִּפֹּ֨ל הַֽחוֹמָ֜ה תַּחְתֶּ֗יהָvatipol hakhomah takhtehahand the wall fell down flat Joshua 6:20:6וַיַּ֨עַל הָעָ֤ם הָעִ֙ירָה֙ אִ֣ישׁ נֶגְדּ֔וֹvayaal haam hairah ish negdoso the people went up into the city, each man straight ahead Joshua 6:20:7וַֽיִּלְכְּד֖וּ אֶת־הָעִֽיר׃vayilkedu ethairand they captured the city
20. Formal Translation
So the people shouted, and they blew the trumpets. When they heard the sound of the trumpet, the people raised a mighty shout, and the wall fell away in its place; then the people advanced into the city, each man straight before him, and they captured the city.
20. Dynamic Translation
The people let out a loud blast, and they blew the trumpets. As soon as the trumpet’s blast reached their ears, the crowd erupted with a powerful roar, and the wall collapsed right where it stood. Then they stormed into the city, each person leading the way, and they seized it.
