| 17. Formal Translation And five of the men who went to spy out the land went up; they came there and took the carved image, the ephod, the teraphim, and the cast image. Then the priest stood at the entrance of the gate with the six hundred armed men. |
| 17. Dynamic Translation So the five men who had gone to scout out the land entered and seized the idol, along with the ephod, the household gods, and the cast image. Meanwhile, the priest was standing at the gateway with six hundred armed men poised for battle. |
