13. Formal Translation
But the tax collector, standing far off, was not willing even to lift up his eyes toward heaven, but was striking his chest, saying, “O God {Theos, Righteous Judge}, be merciful to me, the sinner.”
13. Dynamic Translation
But the tax collector stayed at a distance; he would not even look up to heaven, but kept beating his chest, saying, “God {Theos, Merciful Forgiver}, have mercy on me, a sinner.”
