13. Formal Translation But the ones on the rock are those who, whenever they hear, receive the word with joy; yet these have no root—they believe for a time, and in a time of temptation they fall away. |
13. Dynamic Translation The people on the rocky ground are those who hear the message and accept it joyfully; but they do not have any root, so they trust for a while, and when a test comes, they abandon their faith. |
