29. Formal Translation
For He {Iesous, Sovereign Over Spirits} was commanding the unclean spirit to come out of the man; for many times it had seized him, and he was bound with chains and shackles, kept under guard, yet breaking the bonds, he was driven by the demon into the wildernesses.
29. Dynamic Translation
For He {Iesous, Liberating Lord} had been ordering the evil spirit to leave the man, because it often seized him. Even though he was chained with shackles and kept under guard, he would break his restraints and be driven by the demon into the wildernesses.
