Any kind of wrongdoing and hostile speech may be forgiven

Forgiveness is limited to people who never fail

Only actions done in ignorance may be forgiven

Confess it, seek mercy, and respond quickly to conviction

Assume forgiveness means conviction can be ignored

Stay quiet and hope the matter loses its weight

Treat every critical word as equal, since nothing is singled out

If you would like to receive Jesus, pray this with me: Lord Jesus, I admit that I have sinned and spoken carelessly against what is holy. I turn from my sin and ask you to forgive me. I believe you died for my sins and rose again. Be my Lord and my Savior, and lead me by your Spirit in truth from this day forward. Amen.

Receive Mercy and New Life

Lord, revive your Church where we have treated your Spirit lightly or spoken without reverence. Make us humble, quick to repent, and eager to listen when you convict us. Restore holy fear, tender consciences, and faithful witness among your people, in the name of Jesus. Amen.

Make Your Church Teachable Again

Father, I confess that I have not always guarded my words or my heart before you. Forgive me for the times I have resisted correction, and teach me to repent quickly and speak with reverence, in the name of Jesus. Amen.

Forgive My Careless Words

Pray by naming one place where you have been slow to listen to God's conviction, asking him to soften you, and asking for one obedient step you can take today.

Pray for a Softer Heart

Give thanks for God's mercy that reaches real sin and real failure; for forgiveness offered to repentant people; and for the Spirit's help in bringing us back to truth.

Thank God for Wide Mercy

Pray for someone carrying shame, that they would believe forgiveness is possible; pray for those whose words have damaged others, that repentance and healing would come; and pray for a gentle, truthful witness among believers.

Pray for the Burdened and the Wounded
