Receive Christ and His Mercy

Lord, wake up your Church to speak with holiness and humility. Where we have treated your Spirit lightly, convict us; where we have grown careless with our words, make us tender again; where we have become confident in ourselves, turn us back to awe. Give us repentance, wisdom, and love for your truth, in the name of Jesus. Amen.

Revive Reverence in the Church

Father, I confess the times I have spoken rashly, harshly, or lightly about holy things. Cleanse my mouth and my heart, and teach me to repent quickly when I have gone too far. Make me slow to speak, quick to listen, and careful to honor your truth, in the name of Jesus. Amen.

Forgive My Careless Speech

First name one setting where your words are most careless. Then ask God to slow you down, to make you humble, and to help you recognize his Spirit without presuming to judge what you do not understand.

Pray for a Teachable Tongue

Pray for: people who have spoken against holy things in ignorance; believers who need a softer and more discerning tongue; anyone who is close to hardening their heart toward God's Spirit.

For Those Who Need Mercy and Awareness

Thank God for his mercy that forgives the repentant, and for his warning that keeps us from speaking carelessly. Thank him that he does not leave us in confusion, but calls us to humility, reverence, and truth.
