He will care for God's people like a shepherd.

He is already one of Judah's current rulers.

His coming is limited to Bethlehem alone.

Give careful attention to people others tend to ignore.

Reserve your concern for people who can repay you.

Treat status as the main measure of a person's worth.

Keep a safe distance so you are never inconvenienced.

Lord, revive your Church with the heart of the shepherd promised in this verse. Where we have chased status, humble us; where we have overlooked the small, teach us to value what you value; where our care has grown cold, make us tender again. Lead us to follow your Son with fresh trust and compassion, in the name of Jesus. Amen.

Revive Your People to Follow the Shepherd

Father, when I feel small, hidden, or overlooked, remind me that you notice what others miss. Help me trust your wise purposes, rest in your care, and believe that you can work through humble places too, in the name of Jesus. Amen.

Pray by naming one person, neighborhood, ministry, or task that feels small or forgotten. Ask God to show you how he may be at work there, and ask for one gentle step of care you can take today.

Pray for One Overlooked Place

Bring thanks for Jesus as the promised ruler who leads by caring. Thank God for his attention to humble places, his faithful guidance, and his tender care for his people.
