He drew them away from the others for a private moment

He sent them ahead into the city without him

He spoke to the crowd and skipped the twelve

Lord, revive your Church to follow Jesus with steady hearts, to value private care, and to speak with wisdom along the road. Wake us from hurry and distraction, teach us to notice people, and make us faithful companions to one another. Stir us to walk closely with Christ and to bear his mind in our words, in the name of Jesus. Amen.

Renew Your Church for the Journey

Father, thank you that Jesus did not keep his disciples at a distance, but drew them aside and spoke to them personally. Thank you that he leads with intention and cares enough to speak along the way. Help me trust his nearness and receive his words with gratitude, in the name of Jesus. Amen.
